KUROMI’S MYSTERIOUS DEPARTMENT STORE is a free Halloween event from Sanrio that fills all three floors of MEDIA DEPARTMENT TOKYO in Shibuya from October 19 to November 1, 2026, including Kuromi’s birthday on October 31. No advance registration is needed, and the first floor shop sells 21 Kuromi product types from ¥550 to ¥5,500 including tax. The details below come from Sanrio’s event site and announcement, and from the goods page of Marimo Craft, which runs the event’s store.

The event runs from Monday, October 19 to Sunday, November 1, 2026, open 11:00 to 20:00 with last entry at 19:30. On the opening day, October 19, it opens at 14:00. Sanrio says the hours may change without notice.
Admission is free and needs no advance registration. When it is crowded, staff may hand out numbered tickets at the entrance and may stop admitting visitors before 20:00. Sanrio asks visitors not to wait or form a line outside opening hours, out of consideration for the neighbors.
Visitors with strollers or wheelchairs are asked to speak to the venue staff when they arrive.

MEDIA DEPARTMENT TOKYO is at 19-3 Udagawacho, Shibuya, about five minutes on foot from the Hachiko exit of JR Shibuya Station.
Sanrio has also put up large posters in the Tokyu Toyoko Line’s Shibuya Station, on the B3 level outside the ticket gates in the passage toward exit B1, through November 1. Sanrio says a phone flash reveals Kuromi in her ghost look, and asks visitors not to contact station staff about the posters and to keep the passage clear.
The route starts on the first floor at an information counter where Kuromi greets you and you collect a map, then leads through a secret passage marked with her silhouette.
The second floor has photo spots styled as a cosmetics shop and a boutique. They show cosmetics Kuromi invented, such as SUPER LONG LONG LASHES and HOOD COLOR MAGIC, and a bag that suddenly laughs. Kuromi appears when you look into the mirrors, displays move as you approach, and at certain times a giant Kuromi looks in through the windows.
The third floor is a secret base marked off limits to everyone except Kuromi, and the route ends with a message from her. The shop is back on the first floor.

Sanrio gives out every gift first come, first served, and each ends when supplies run out. Visitors can receive a map with Kuromi’s message and a balloon on a stick while supplies last. The balloon comes in two designs, and you cannot choose which one you receive. Filling in a survey earns a sticker of Kuromi in her dress look, also while supplies last.
A second sticker, of Kuromi in her ghost look, goes to visitors who answer three questions posted at the venue and in Sanrio’s Omoide Badge app to earn the event’s digital badge, while supplies last. To try for it, install Omoide Badge and sign in with a free Sanrio+ account before you go. Its iPhone listing supports Japanese only, so check that you can complete the setup on your phone.
On October 24 and 25 only, visitors leaving the venue are handed a free bottle of Kochakaden unsweetened Earl Grey tea with milk. It is one per person, first come, first served, while supplies last.
The pop-up store is on the first floor, and you can enter it only after going through the event. The numbered entry tickets do not apply to the store, which may form its own line when it is busy.
Each visitor gets one checkout, and the event-limited and early-release items are limited to one of each per checkout. Sanrio’s English page words the rule as one purchase per day. Plan one checkout during your visit, because the Japanese rules do not say whether the allowance resets each day.
Marimo Craft asks visitors not to buy for resale. Purchase limits and the lineup may change, and sales end when stock runs out.
Marimo Craft groups the 21 product types into ten listed as limited to the event and eleven offered here first.
Mascot plush, ¥2,860 including tax
The plush wears a gothic dress with a jeweled bow and hangs from a strap marked Kuromi, with a key ring attached. Sanrio’s announcement describes it as sold here first, while Marimo Craft lists it as limited to the event.

Candy-style acrylic charm, ¥770 including tax
The heart-shaped charm comes in two designs sold separately, a purple one with Kuromi winking and a blue one with Kuromi in her ghost look.

T-shirt, ¥4,950 including tax
There are four designs, the department store artwork or the ghost look, each in white or black. The published price list does not give T-shirt sizes.

Multi Ring+, ¥1,628 including tax
It is a phone ring with a square Kuromi plate, which Marimo Craft lists among the items offered here first.

Spend at least ¥4,400 including tax in one checkout to receive the event shopping bag while supplies last, one bag per checkout and first come, first served. Receipts cannot be combined or split, and a single tote bag at ¥4,400 reaches the threshold on its own.
We follow the Japanese event page and Marimo Craft’s gift notice, which include purchases of exactly ¥4,400. The English event page says “more than ¥4,400.”
The same checkout also enters a lottery for a ticket to the photo sticker booth inside the venue, while tickets are available. Only checkouts completed between 11:00 and 19:00 count, and a winning ticket works only on the day you win it. Downloading the photo data needs a free Pictlink account.

As of October 19, 2026, the official event and goods pages do not announce online sales. Sanrio’s announcement says the goods may be sold separately later, without giving a date or a retailer.
Instagram creator しんマニア (@shinmani_a) posted a reel as the event opened. The caption follows the route through all three floors, from Kuromi at the entrance to the third floor secret base and its message, and ends at the shop.
These prices come from Marimo Craft’s goods list and include tax. Where several designs are shown, the price is for one. Sanrio’s September 30, 2026 announcement calls the mascot and the candy-style charm early releases, while the goods list files both as event-limited. Each visitor gets one checkout, with one of each item per checkout.
Checkouts of ¥4,400 or more enter the lottery only between 11:00 and 19:00, and last entry is 19:30.

On those two days visitors are handed a bottle of Kochakaden unsweetened Earl Grey tea with milk on the way out, while supplies last.

Thank You Mart’s Tamagotchi 30th anniversary collection is due in stores in late October 2026. Most items cost ¥429 including tax, with arrivals varying by store.

From 1 November you pay the tax at the till and claim it back at the airport. Small mixed baskets get easier, big single purchases get harder to budget, and the refund may not arrive as money.

The range arrives October 10, 2026 at every 3COINS in Tokyo, priced ¥330 to ¥1,650. It is the cheapest thing to come out of a thirtieth anniversary that has otherwise been about trading cards.
