Japan Exclusive Lines From Brands You Already Know
Sixteen Tokyo stores carrying Japan-exclusive collections and Japan-made lines from familiar brands. Each entry explains exactly what you can’t buy at home, and what is worth a detour.

A familiar brand can mean something different in Tokyo. Goldwin has held the Japan trademark for The North Face since 1994, and in 2003 it founded the design house nanamica with Eiichiro Homma to create The North Face Purple Label for the Japanese market. Other global brands like Helly Hansen, Gramicci, Danton and Barbour all have collections here designed for Japan, and in several cases are exclusive to Japan. This guide maps sixteen stores where those lines actually appear on the rack, grouped into three walkable clusters, with eleven within a few minutes of one another in Jingumae and most of those on or just off Cat Street. Each entry tells you exactly what makes the line worth seeking out and whether it is unavailable outside Japan, made in Japan and sold worldwide, exclusive to that one shop, or a global name whose only local part is a single item. If you are looking for a Tokyo-specific item or a shoe line made here, the Stussy Tokyo Chapter tee and Onitsuka Tiger NIPPON MADE guides cover both. One may be worth rearranging an afternoon around and the others are reasons to stop when you are already nearby. If you are after the Japanese labels that started here rather than the Japan editions of foreign ones, the Tokyo streetwear guide covers those.

Eleven of the sixteen are here, most of them within a ten minute walk of each other along Cat Street and the blocks either side of it. Four carry lines their brands sell only in Japan. The rest either make their clothes here and ship them worldwide, or are global names whose only local part is one item.
Three stores within a few hundred meters of each other, and the quietest part of the route. This is where Purple Label lives, in the two nanamica shops that produce it, with a Barbour a short walk away.

Pro Tips
Japan-only and Japanese-made are not the same thing
Helly Hansen, Gramicci, Danton and Barbour each run a collection their brand states is sold only in Japan. Snow Peak, Descente and nanamica make their lines here and ship them worldwide, so those are worth a stop rather than a detour. Every entry below says which it is.
Limited lines move, so call before a special trip
The Japan-only collections are seasonal and stock varies by store. Barbour Cat Street is reachable on 03-6712-5170, and the Coalville jacket was already out of stock in black in both sizes online in early October 2026. If one specific piece is the reason you are going, confirm it first.
Nine of the fourteen are one walk
The Jingumae stores sit within about ten minutes of each other, so that cluster is an afternoon. Daikanyama adds three more a short train ride away. Marunouchi and Hibiya are on the other side of the city and make more sense as a separate half day.
Several of the Japan-only pieces are cut for women
Barbour's Coalville short jacket is a women's cut, Gramicci's Japan Exclusive run includes a tapered pant and a wool flare skirt, and the Danton collaboration includes a Jumper Dress and a Tuck Padding Skirt. These collections are not menswear with a few extras.
Tax-free rules change in November 2026
Bring your passport if you expect to claim tax-free, and check the current rules before you travel, because the system is changing. A refund removes the 10 percent consumption tax from a tax-inclusive price, so it is closer to 9 percent off the ticket than 10.
Four, on the brands' own word. Helly Hansen states the HH JAPAN capsule is sold only in Japan and only through its own stores. Gramicci labels fifteen pieces JAPAN EXCLUSIVE. Danton states the eunoia collaboration is available only in Japan through Danton stores. Barbour runs a JAPAN LIMITED program the international range does not carry. New Balance MET24 is a Japanese line, though it also appears on the Taiwan and Hong Kong sites.
No. It was for years, and it is still designed by nanamica in Tokyo and licensed through Goldwin, but it now reaches buyers outside Japan and nanamica has opened a store in New York. The reason to visit nanamica MOUNTAIN is the depth of the range and the souvenir pieces sold only there, rather than exclusivity.
Goldwin has held the Japan trademark for The North Face since 1994, and in 2003 it founded the design house nanamica with Eiichiro Homma. It also runs Helly Hansen in Japan. That is why The North Face Standard, The North Face Play, Helly Hansen Harajuku and Goldwin Marunouchi all behave like parts of one operation. The other stores here are unrelated to it and run their own Japan arrangements.
Both are on the guide, and both are deliberately filed apart from the Japan-exclusive lines. Stussy is a global company, so the local part is one item rather than a collection, and every Chapter store sells its own city tee. We wrote up how to buy the Tokyo one in the Stussy Tokyo Chapter guide. Onitsuka Tiger sells worldwide too, and NIPPON MADE is its made-in-Japan line rather than a Japan-only one, which is a different claim and a smaller one. The Omotesando store is given over to that line, and the rest of its Tokyo stores are in the Onitsuka Tiger guide.
The nine Jingumae stores are a comfortable afternoon on foot. Adding the three in Daikanyama makes a full day. Marunouchi and Hibiya sit across the city and are better kept for a separate half day, which also suits them, since The North Face Play runs limited collections worth arriving for deliberately.
